We always talked about engagement, marriage and kids, but I did not expect it to happen when it did! Vinny and I got engaged September 5th, 2020, at the Eagles Nest Lookout in Calabogie, Ontario. We decided to book a weekend away to Ottawa for the last weekend of summer. Vinny found a hike that we could stop to do on our drive to ottawa that morning. Little did I know what was really coming on that hike!
It was a quick 20-30 minute hike up. We stood at the lookout for a bit and got some beautiful photos, unfortunately there were a lot of people around, so we walked down the rocks a bit to a little secluded area to get some other photos, just enjoyed the beautiful view and that’s when it happened! He kneeled on one knee, said plenty of words to which I cannot remember as I was in such shock! Literally all I can remember is “Makenzie Katelynn Matthews will you marry me?’. There I was, hyperventilating crying.
Looking back at how it all happened, there is nothing more “us” then the way the proposal happened. We both love the outdoors and hiking SO much, it was just him and I in that moment, it was everything I could have ever dreamed about and more!
There is no one that makes me as happy as Vinny does. I cannot wait to start this chapter of our life together.
